The Via Clanis gathers different trails and turns them into a single loop journey. About two hundred kilometres, spread over eight stages, connect towns, villages, hills and plains along the historic course of the Clanis, the river that gave its name to the valley.
A mosaic of paths
The route passes through Arezzo, Castiglion Fiorentino, Cortona, Castiglione del Lago, Montepulciano, Sinalunga, Lucignano, Gargonza, Monte San Savino and Civitella. Along the way it meets the Via Romea Germanica, the Sentiero della Bonifica, the Via Lauretana and other historic itineraries, creating a network in which each stage can become an independent journey.
Eight days to know the valley from the bottom up
Walking the Via Clanis means watching the landscape change seamlessly: from art cities to countryside, from archaeological sites to walled villages. The effort remains measured by the pleasure of the stops, local dishes and hospitality. It is an itinerary for those who prefer to arrive slowly and remember the road as well.
