The Porcini Mushroom Festival is held every year on the weekend following the steak festival. It is organized by the Council of the Terzieri the proceeds of which go toward making the beautiful medieval costumes that parade for the Giostra dell'Archidado.
The Giostra dell'Archidado has its roots in the Middle Ages and precisely shortly before the year 1000, but it is since 1994 that the quintieri of Cortona they challenge each other with crossbows, recalling the celebrations held for the wedding of Francesco Casali and Antonia Salimbeni.
Taking part in the "Sagra del Fungo Porcino" in Cortona is a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture, savor the culinary delicacies of the region and spend pleasant time in the company of friends and family.
It is an experience not to be missed for lovers of Tuscan cuisine and tradition!
